Ron Howard stars as Hoover Niebold who's father (Warren Kemmerling) is the local sheriiff. Hoover wants to put the moves on the high school hottie (Charlene played by Christopher Norris) so he steals Ole No 8 right off the race track. The movie is mostly about the chase that ensues and the inept cops who wreck a bunch of stuff trying to catch him.
Lots of fun although pretty far fetched. Ole No 8 is a pretty cool '67 Camero so anybody who owns one of these should own this movie.
Viewing quality of this hard to find DVD is outsanding. It is shipped in a plastic case with the artwork as shown.
