Long before "The Fast and the Furious" there was "King of the Mountain." The Mountain refers to the Santa Monica Mountains which divide greater Los Angeles from the San Fernando Valley and Mulholland Drive which snakes along the crest. Harry Hamlin (remember L.A. Law?) is Steve, a 20 something auto mechanic who gets his kicks from illegal racing on Mulholland. He is proud of his reputation as "King of the Mountain" but fellow mechanic Cal (Hopper) who used to be the King, longs for a comeback. But the film is also about the aimless lifestyle of Steve and his friends who are trying to break into the music business. An excellent cast includes Joseph Bottoms, Deborah Van Valkenburgh and Dan Haggerty. Hamlin drives a specially prepared Porsche and Hopper has a beat up 70 something Vette. The rock and roll sound track is pretty good and includes tunes by The Atlanta Rhythm Section, Styx and the Police
Viewing quality of this hard to find film is excellent. It is shipped in a plastic case with the artwork as shown.
