We call this one "Days of Thunder meets Days of our Lives." Howard Hawks directed this big screen soap opera with a NASCAR backdrop. 24 year old James Caan stars in his first important role but the rest of the cast seems rather interchangeable. Laura Devon, Gail Hire and Marianna Hill are the drivers' love interests - each with perfect wardrobes, makeup and hair styles making them a bit difficult to distinguish. The bright spot is some pretty good '60s NASCAR racing footage from Daytona, Charlotte, Darlington and Riverside. Sharp eyes will spot the number 27 Holly Farms car driven by Junior Johnson, Fred Lorenzen's number 28 Lafayette Ford and the blue number 43 Richard Petty Plymouth
